Kelty RedTail 1800 backpack: It's a Kelty, do I need to say anything more. I've hiked approximately 2,000 miles with this thing on my back. At 1800 cubic inches, it's small enough to take on day hikes, but big enough to take for a quick minimalist backpacking trip. It has several different pockets to carry your gear, and it is hydration compatible. It also has both a chest strap and a waiste strap to keep it from bouncing around when you have to outrun your friend to get away from the bear. The waiste strap is small enough that it will not interfere with a hip holster for your firearm.
Huberd's Shoe Grease: This stuff is like magic in a can. Last year I was looking for something to help waterproof my boots and condition the leather. I gave Huberd's a whirl and was very satisfied. It softened up the leather enough to take away the friction spots, but still kept the leather durable. Then, when I slipped on a log at a creek crossing, I realized this stuff was the real deal. My foot was submerged for about three seconds, and the only water that got in was through the top of the boot. My toes would have continued to stay dry if not for the wicking effect of my socks. This product will not cause any deterioration of threads or leather. For a 7.5 oz can it will only run you about $7.
